Who Was Daisy? Our organization is dedicated to the memory of my Grandma Daisy, the first pink warrior in my life. Grandma was guided in life by a few basic principles: family comes first, love with all your heart, and give unselfishly. Grandma taught me how to cook, sew, and fight breast cancer bravely and with perseverance. In her honor, the Pink Daisy Project is committed to providing care and comfort to young women facing breast cancer treatment. That’s the way Grandma would have wanted it.

Hannah plays “CeCe” on this season’s hit show, THE NEW GIRL, on Fox. She told us, “I'm honored to work alongside Debbie at the Pink Daisy Project. It’s important for young women and mothers fighting breast cancer to know there's a community of dedicated friends who'll provide the essentials to help them cope and heal through the everyday challenges of this disease.” |
Debbie Cantwell 2011 CNN Hero
Thank you CNN for this incredible honor!
Since 2008, the Pink Daisy Project has helped more than 150 women -- mostly in the form of house-cleaning assistance and gift cards for gas, groceries and restaurants. But according to Haley, it's so much more. "It's hope," she said. "Right when I would hit the (emotional) low, there was a gift card ... or the toilet was 'magically' clean. I can't overemphasize the value of that to somebody with cancer." The founder of the Pink Daisy Project, Debbie Cantwell, can relate to Haley's plight. She was 41 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. |
